WebMagic
Registered users can import and export LaTeX projects.
They can also upload zipped Markdown files.
And naturally, the can produce web version of their documents.
Subscribers can import and export all three document types of the three major office suites.
| Text | Spreadsheet | Slides | |
| Microsoft |
Word .docx
|
Excel .xlsx
|
PowerPoint .pptx
|
| Google Docs | Google Sheets | Google Slides | |
| LibreOffice |
Writer .odt
|
Calc .ods
|
Impress .odp
|
That is nine combinations, each with an import and an export. They are not symmetrical in what they cover:
csv blocks (the tables).
slider blocks (the slide, grid and gridItem blocks inside them).
Everything outside that subset is ignored on export. On import, a spreadsheet gives tables and a presentation gives a slider.
All exports support equations.
Below are the workflows on import and export.

Diagram 2. Export workflow
Documents Live exports all of its CSV data tables to a spreadsheet with one sheet per CSV data, without any sort of styling.
Remember that you can create new CSV tables after filtering and sorting, right within Documents Live.
Documents Live exports each Slider block as a separate Presentation file.
Documents Live can export documents and sliders using templates. This holds for the three Office flavors.
Templates are regular Office files with a placeholder text that specifically says
$DOCUMENT$
At export time, the placeholder is replaced by the document content. For presentation, each slide takes the template, with the $DOCUMENT$ placeholder replaced by the slide content.
Templates are imported to the user’s account inside its account’s settings.
Templates are particularly handy when you have to brand your documents.
Subcribers can configure export options for documents and slides, for all of the three Office flavors.
Each configuration optionally modify the following parameters.
| Text font | Heading font | Monospace font | Font size | Template |
For Google documents, you should use a Google font. Microsoft and Libre Office suites have each their sets of safe fonts that are installed by the software. You can use other fonts provided they are available on the user’s computer.
PDF exports can also similarly customized, without the template option. Supported fonts are the google fonts.
You can configure a document’s export option in your dashboard.
There you can choose an export configuration that has been defined at the user level. You can custumize the PDF export, plus the six combinations defined by (Microsoft/Google/Libre)\( \times\) (Document/Presentation).
Documents Live imports and exports to Markdown files. It can also export to the clipboard in the Markdown format.
You can also export your document to PDF (note that equations are degraded in that case). In you want equations in your PDF, export the document to a LaTeX project and typeset it.
Documents Live supports the EBOOK format for export, including equations. E-books are an excellent portable alternative to PDF files, as they adapt very well to different device sizes, all of this without requiring an Internet connection.
